Early Life

Fik-Shun, real name Dushaunt Fik-Shun Stegall, was born in Wichita, Kansas. New fans tend to question if Fik-Shun martial arts were real and he started training taekwondo when he was only two years old.

At 5 years old, he got a glimpse of dancing and fell in love with the art, so he began to take multiple trainings instead of ditching one for another. For sure, it wouldn’t have been possible without his family’s support.

They moved to Las Vegas in 2006, so he could comfortably continue his studies at the LA Academy of Arts.

Gifted and diligent, Fik-Shun combined everything he learned into a unique style that no one can duplicate, something made of martial arts, street funk, and certainly hip-hop.

After fame found him, he once again credited his flowing style partially to the martial arts he trained.

He started to film his performances and published them on the internet, attracting a good number of audiences even before he decided to take on the challenge and registered in a large-scale contest.

As shared by Fik-Shun himself, he looks up to tWitch and Philip Chbeeb among the many dancers he knows.

SYTYCD and TV appearances

Fik-Shun was under the LA Academy of Arts, where he drilled deeply into popping, aside from his origins – street funk and hip-hop, and he finished the education program with great discipline.

With enough experience from being a street artist and a full-time art student, Fik-Shun participated in So You Think You Can Dance at 18 years old and won the grand prize. The show invited him to return as a guest in the next season.

After winning SYTYCD, it was common that fame awaited Fik-Shun, and he truly danced into the world of celebrities with his impressive moves. He made the right call by not rushing – he chose to hone his skills first, and competing in World of Dance was part of his training.

In 2016, 3 years after SYTYCD, Fik-Shun joined a TV program called “Making Moves” and starred in a family drama named “All Styles”, making himself known as an actor.

The journey to success

Fik-Shun’s reputation allows him to have many traveling opportunities, and he utilizes them to host classes and perform for people. Even the audience who saw his performance directly was in awe at his freestyle and perfect isolation control.

He is also always eager to collaborate with other artists who share the same view of things and messages to deliver with him. His energy and generosity, of course, are for young, underrated artists as well.

Some of Fik-Shun’s clients include big names such as Taylor Swift, Ellen, and more. His frequent collaborators include Dytto, Celena, Nora, Tushar Shetty, and Sushant Khatri, and we cannot forget Vik White!

He loves interacting with his fans on every platform, so you have a good chance of receiving a reply if you try to reach out!

Fik-Shun is currently working on a book titled “Science Fik-Shun”, which is a biography. He seems to have some flair for fashion too, with brands like Tiffany & Co, Johnson & Johnson, and Macy’s signing him for work.

Fik-Shun is most known for his championship in So You Think You Can Dance, which funded him sufficiently in both the showbiz and the financial aspects.

His roles in “Making Moves” (2016) and “Welcome to Oz” (2019), despite being minor, had put his dancing under the spotlight and brought several awards to him.
