City Dance was founded in 2003 and we hold our classes at four locations in San Francisco as well as an online dance instruction site (www.citydancelive.com) and a popular Youtube channel (www.youtube.com/citydancelive).
We specialize in urban dance forms such as Popping, House, Breaking, Locking, TopRock, Turfing and 90's Hip Hop. We also have a fantastic selection of Hip Hop Choreo, Jazz, Tap, Flamenco, Ballet, K-pop and Contemporary dance classes.
Our instructors are highly accomplished dancers and excellent/caring teachers. It's very important to us that City Dance feels like a welcoming community to everyone who comes through our doors.
We are also well known for hosting some of the best dancers in the world for master classes. We have attracted students from as far away as Japan, Russian, Europe, South America and Australia to attend classes offered by Mr. Wiggles, Buddha Stretch, Marjory Smarth, Caleaf Sellers, Salah, Les Twins, Ejoe Wilson, Brooklyn Terry, Poe One, Iron Monkey, Kid David, SBR, Suga Pop, Ian Eastwood, Mariel Martin, Jillian Meyers, Tony Testa, Pharside, Krystal Meraz, Larkin Poynton, Boogie Frantick, King Charles, Slim Boogie, the dancers from NDT2 and many more!
Twice a year we produce shows where students perform onstage, with their instructors and other world class guest artists at either the Cowell Theater in Fort Mason or the Palace of Fine Arts. These shows get better every year and they are becoming more and more popular among students and dance lovers alike.
In February of 2015, we presented Nederlands Dance Theater 2 to a sold out house at the Palace of Fine Arts. We also offered master classes where students learned choreography from the show taught by dancers from the company. It was a wonderful experience and we hope to bring more world class companies to the bay area in the future.
